“PHORAID”
ANTISEPTIC & DISINFECTANT
Definitions: (Taken from the Oxford "Concise Medical Dictionary" (1988).)
An ANTISEPTIC is "a substance applied to living tissue to destroy pathogenic (disease
causing) micro-organisms or to prevent their growth".
Antiseptics should have a wide spectrum of activity against micro-organisms, be non-irritant
to living tissue, and retain its activity in the presence of exudates. Antiseptics
are used to clean wounds and in the preparation of the skin surface prior to surgery.
Among the more commonly used antiseptics are iodine- and chlorine- containing
compounds, peroxides, cationic detergents, phenols, alcohols and dyes.
A DISINFECTANT is "a substance which destroys micro-organisms and is used to sterilize
inanimate objects and surfaces".
Both Phoraid products are amongst the most effective agents known,
with powerful and rapid activity against a wide range of organisms
including MRSA., C.Diff, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and
Human Hepatitis B. Phoraid products meet all the demands of the
above definitions. Phoraid Disinfectant is extremely safe and
non-corrosive, it may be used with safety on coloured fabrics with no
permanent staining and in enclosed spaces. In these respects
Phoraid products are unique.
